# B307 Safety System RFQ Rev. 3 - Scope Summary and 3D Model Basis

## Requested installation scope

- Model and coordinate the 17 gas-detector points shown in Figure 7 (LEL, H2, O2, and CO), plus 4 Sense-Ware UV/IR-210/1 flame detectors, 7 yellow beacons, 7 red beacons, and 2 combination white strobe/alarm horns. The owner supplies these devices.
- Contractor supplies the complete installation, including approximately 1,200 ft of hard conduit, approximately 5,600 ft of control wiring, 2 junction boxes, mounting hardware, fittings, seals, supports, and all other material needed for a complete system.
- Install instrumentation, junction boxes, low-voltage cabling, and power cabling to NFPA 70 requirements for Class I, Division 2 locations where applicable. The lube-oil pit includes a Class I, Division 1 area.
- Connect all safety devices to the main instrumentation junction box. Existing buried conduit in the B307 slab is available for cable pulls.
- B307B is shown as a see-through, two-room building with an east-west center partition. The project-facing south half is the control room and contains the safety-system panel; the far north half is the electrical room. Six gas-detector points and separate detection and notification conduits are visible through the enclosure and route underground to the main B307 instrumentation junction box.

## Device elevations and placement

- Roof gas-detector groups: 50 ft above grade at the nearest structural member.
- Ground gas-detector groups: 18 in. above grade.
- Lube-oil-pit O2 detector: 6 ft above the pit's lowest point.
- Flame detectors: approximately 20 ft above the B307 pad, aimed toward Machinery Pads 1 and 4. Provide adjustable mounting and enough cable for future aiming and vertical adjustment.
- Main-pad beacons: approximately 20 ft above grade and visible from outside the structure.
- Other beacons: generally 6-20 ft above grade; final locations require owner approval during installation.

## Routing concept incorporated in the model

- Two separate 3/4-in. RMC conduit systems run around B307 and down the structural columns. The displayed conduit diameter is intentionally enlarged in the model for visibility.
- Detection raceway: gas monitors and flame detectors share one 3/4-in. RMC system. All 17 gas-detector points are shown in one continuous series/daisy-chain path, including 9 at B307, 6 at B307B, and 2 on the east/fuel-yard side.
- Notification raceway: beacons, strobes, and horns share a separate 3/4-in. RMC system.
- Every modeled device box has a conduit connection to its applicable raceway. Gas-detector branches represent the continuous series path through all 17 detector points; they are not parallel home runs.
- The lube-oil-pit detector branch follows the south structural column down to a low-level horizontal RMC run, continues toward the pit, offsets to the detector, and drops to its mounting elevation.
- Every exterior flame-detector, beacon, horn/strobe, and junction box has a 3/4-in. RMC branch to the nearest modeled enclosed cable-tray segment; no device box is intentionally left floating without a raceway connection.
- At the east edge of B307: the two RMC systems terminate at separate labeled transitions to the exterior pathway.
- Outside B307: the orange enclosed cable tray runs at approximately +18 ft to the fuel-yard turn, drops to approximately +3 ft, and continues through the fuel yard to its end.
- Every fuel-yard device and junction box has a visible vertical 3/4-in. RMC connection from the tray. Green represents detection; purple represents notification.
- Device drops remain in conduit; any hazardous-location boundary transitions, seals, and fittings are to be finalized from the classified-area drawings and field walkdown.
- Existing slab conduit is shown as a separate buried route and is not counted as new exposed routing.

The branch-run takeoff includes the modeled connections to 17 gas detectors, 4 flame detectors, 14 beacons, and 2 horn/strobes. At the south end of the fuel yard, FD-04, YB-07, RB-07, and HS-02 are mounted at +20 ft on the dedicated rack; GD-17 is mounted at +1 ft 6 in above grade. Horizontal branch raceways use strut and all-thread trapeze assemblies at maximum 8-ft spacing; vertical drops use column-mounted strut clamps. Lengths are approximate centerline measurements from the conceptual model. They exclude shared perimeter RMC, general column drops, B307B underground feeders, exterior cable tray, fittings, field offsets, rack steel, support hardware, and material waste. Verify all lengths in the field before purchasing.

These quantities are a conceptual coordination allowance, not a sealed structural design. Confirm rack member sizes, wind loading, foundations, anchor embedment, corrosion protection, structural attachment types, rod lengths, seismic requirements, and manufacturer-specific device brackets before fabrication or purchase.

## Quote requirements

- Total price and proposed schedule.
- Itemized contractor-furnished equipment and hardware.
- Explicit list of scope deviations or non-conformances.
- Tier 3 insurance compliance.
- Separate line items for the two pipe-rack flame detectors and the highlighted combination horn/strobe.

## Bid and design clarifications

1. Reconcile the device count in Table 1 with every colored marker/group in Figures 7-10 before final takeoff.
2. Confirm the exact main junction-box location, terminal capacity, I/O allocation, circuit segregation, cable types, conductor counts, and voltage-drop limits.
3. Confirm cable-tray type, width, loading, fill, support spacing, bonding, covers, and the precise conduit-to-tray transition detail.
4. Confirm whether conductors may be installed directly in tray or must remain in conduit in specific exterior/classified areas.
5. Identify Class I, Division 1 boundary seals at the lube-oil pit and all required Class I, Division 2 seals, drains, breathers, and explosionproof fittings.
6. Confirm mounting steel, access equipment, lift requirements, shutdown constraints, testing, calibration, commissioning, labeling, and as-built-document requirements.
7. Verify all route lengths in the field; the RFQ is not a dimensioned routing drawing.

## Model limitations and dimensional assumptions

- The GLB is a conceptual coordination model, not a construction-issued BIM/CAD model.
- Site-photo context has been added for coordination realism: cream-painted canopy I-frames, exposed roof purlins and ribbed deck, concrete column pedestals, slab joints, the yellow overhead crane bridge, safety bollards, and the dark exterior structural rack. Temporary access lifts visible in the photographs are intentionally omitted.
- Approximate B307 canopy footprint: 150 ft east-west by 100 ft north-south. The user-confirmed roof profile is 45 ft at both side eaves and 50 ft at the center ridge.
- Building 278 is intentionally omitted because it is a drawing reference only and has no modeled scope. B307B is shown northwest of B307 as the control/termination building; its conceptual dimensions and exact offsets require field verification.
- The perimeter RMC is shown near the eave level for coordination clarity; its final support elevation and offsets must be field-verified. The enclosed exterior tray is conceptually modeled at +18 ft on approach, drops to +3 ft at the fuel-yard turn, and continues to the end of the yard; all elevations require field verification.
- Building, pipe-rack, fuel-yard, device, and junction-box coordinates were inferred from RFQ Figures 5-10 and must be field-verified.
- Equipment geometry is schematic and intentionally oversized for visibility.
